Join the African American Roundtable on Saturday, July 20 at 6 p.m. for a screening of The Funnel directed by Charlene Carruthers. The Funnel is a short film "about love, ancestral power, and the Black experience of displacement and resilience."
The film will be followed by a conversation with Carruthers, a writer, filmmaker, and Black Studies PhD student at Northwestern University. A practitioner of telling more complete stories, her work interrogates historical conjunctures of Black freedom-making, post-emancipation, and decolonial revolution, Black governance, and Black feminist abolitionist geographies.
