Why we’re changing our mission, vision and values

Four years ago we set out to change Milwaukee. We were fed up with the status quo of police killing Black people, while their departments absorb the majority of our budgets, and our communities not having what they need.

We sought to LiberateMKE. While we’ve been focused on Milwaukee issues, we realized that people across the country could benefit from our work. The liberation of our people cannot wait.

From here on out, our organization will deeply center self work and leadership development in service of true liberation.

So without further ado, we are thrilled to share with you our new mission, vision and values. We hope that they resonate with you as much as they do with us.

AART’s new mission:

The African American Roundtable (AART) organizes, nurtures, and transforms Black leaders to build power in service of Black liberation.

AART’s new vision:

AART is a joyful, political home for Black people to thrive in liberated, interconnected communities.

AART’s new values include:

Authentic Relationships

Liberation

Love

Organization

Community

Transformation

We’re so excited about the future of AART, and we invite you to get involved as we train up the next generation of Black leaders! Email info@africanamericanroundtable.org for more information.
