PB for the people!

As we wrap up 2023, I want to uplift the work we have done on our Participatory Budgeting Project. This year, the African American Roundtable put up $40,000 of our organizational fund to invest in four projects on the Northwest Side.

I want to share a couple of videos highlighting why we “put our money where our mouth is” to fund participatory budgeting and explain the work of our seven-person steering committee and their leadership in this process.

This eight-month process reminded me of Mariame Kaba’s quote, “Everything worthwhile is done with others” and June Jordan’s quote, “We are the ones we have been waiting for.”

In solidarity,

Devin Anderson, AART Campaign and Membership Director
