It’s a new year—now is a great time to plug in with AART
“Every crisis, actual or impending, needs to be viewed as an opportunity to bring about profound changes in our society. Going beyond protest organizing, visionary organizing begins by creating images and stories of the future that help us imagine and create alternatives to the existing system.”―Grace Lee Boggs
The fight for Black liberation is an ongoing struggle against systemic racism, inequality, and social injustices that have plagued historically marginalized Black communities.
In recent times, the importance of this movement has been underscored by increased visibility of racial violence, socioeconomic disparities and the rise of facism, authoritarianism, and anti-Blackness across our country. As 2026 unfolds, now, more than ever, is the perfect time to plug in with an organization like the African American Roundtable (AART) that is doing its part to build a loving and joyful political home for Black Milwaukeeans.
Here’s how to get involved
Become a member. We offer membership with our organization that provides additional benefits, such as exclusive access to resources, political education, and networking opportunities. By becoming a member, you can demonstrate your commitment to Black liberation and gain a deeper connection to our work. Membership dues are only $5 per month or $60 for the year. We also offer youth membership.
Attend an AART event. Most of our events are open to the public. Attending these gatherings is an excellent way to learn more about our work, meet like-minded individuals, and understand how you can contribute. Our events also provide a platform for discussion and education, allowing you to deepen your understanding of the issues facing our community. Also, consider inviting your family, friends or neighbors to join you.
Volunteer your time and skills. Volunteering is one of the most direct ways to get involved with our organization. Whether it's helping with organizing events , making calls to support recruitment or participating in advocacy campaigns, your time and skills can make a significant difference. Reach out to us at info@africanamericanroundtable.org to inquire about volunteer opportunities, and let us know how you can contribute.
Support AART financially. If you're able, consider making a financial contribution to our organization. You can give a one time donation or partner with us as a monthly sustainer. Donations help fund our initiatives and sustain their work. We rely on the generosity of supporters to continue our advocacy efforts, so every bit helps.
Amplify Black voices. Use your voice and platform to amplify our messages and those of the people we serve. Share our campaigns, events, and content on social media, and engage in conversations that promote awareness and action.
Educate yourself and others. Staying informed about the issues facing our communities is crucial for effective advocacy. Take advantage of the educational resources and materials provided by our organization, and don't hesitate to seek out additional information. Share your knowledge with friends, family, and your wider community to raise awareness and inspire others to get involved.
By following these steps, you can effectively plug into AART and become an active participant in the movement for change. Your involvement will not only contribute to our organization's mission and vision but also will enable you to make a difference in Milwaukee and beyond. Together, we can work towards a more just and liberated future for all.
