AART welcomes three new board members
We are so excited to welcome our newest board members to the AART family! These ladies exemplify Black women leadership, and we cannot wait to see how they will help strategize with us to elevate our organization to new heights.
Maya Neal is a Milwaukee resident, political strategist, and the Interim Executive Director of the Wisconsin C3 Civic Engagement Table. Her work builds power with young people and communities of color and is guided by values of abolition, Black Queer feminism, and transformative justice. She is also a member of Black Youth Project 100- Milwaukee Chapter and sits on the board for the Milwaukee Freedom Fund.
Angela N. Harris is a first grade leader at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School, Milwaukee’s only African American Immersion school, and the Chairwoman of the Black Educators Caucus. As an abolitionist liberatory educator, she has pledged to teach the historically accurate truth to her scholars and to advocate that educators commit to this practice nationwide.
Rashidah Butler-Jackson is the founder of RBJ Community Consulting, where she works to support local nonprofits, community organizations, and social entrepreneurs with sustainability, evaluation, facilitation, and staff management. She is a Milwaukee native and a proud Milwaukee Public Schools alumna, graduating from Rufus King High School. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for both her undergraduate and graduate education.
